Greetings everyone!
This is me and my new blog...
My name is James. I live in Norwich in Norfolk, England.
Wildlife Art has been a fascination for me for at least 20 years now, since my school days. After a bit if a hiatus I am back to exploring art and some of these ideas once again.
Here's why...
I love the fact that Wildlife Art is so much more than "Art" (with a capital "A")..!
- I am excited to see my wildlife art hero, Canadian painter Robert Bateman as a world spokesman for the environment; its' importance and its' benefits, too.
- I am excited to discover the writing of Clare Walker Leslie, and American teacher and author who sees drawing as a tool for teaching and learning.
- I am excited to see first-hand the work of Artists For Nature Foundation at the British Birdwatching Fair in recent years. The project supports art as a tool for the communication of conservation efforts around the world.
- I am excited to see the Society of Wildlife Artists, SWLA, adopt many of the philosophies of the Artists For Nature Foundation, but also to add much artistic diversity to world of wildlife art recently.
- I am excited to see the new campaign to counter Nature Deficit Disorder the hypothesis spearheaded by Richard Louv, American author in his writing.
- Most of all I am excited by the movement led by the Children & Nature Network in the United States of America and the Wild Thing Project in London, U.K. to promote creative ways to reconnect with nature.
